AMEX Business Platinum Better Than The Personal?

What's up guys luke here with luke's points and miles and today i wanted to talk about a card that gets outshined by its sibling it's a card that when i looked at my yearly spending got the most spend out of all my cards in the last 12 months and i've only had this card for a short time now that could be for a few different reasons besides being the best card to spend on but we will go over.

Some of those reasons today i want to take a closer look at the american express business platinum card and i want to ask the question is the business version better than the personal version but before we do if you are new to the channel i talk about credit cards points miles cash back and travel if those are things you may be interested in hit the subscribe button i deliver relevant content multiple times a week and we have a very good group here within the Community of luke's points and miles lots of great folks also if at any time during the video you get any value or entertainment please slap the like button it will help us appease the almighty algorithm gods and it will help us get this video in front of more eyeballs okay guys let's jump right into this i want to review this card and along the way i want to compare what you get with the business card and the personal version they are different.

Enough but one card may be a much better tool for your toolbox first off the bonus the american express business platinum has all kinds of crazy awesome bonus offers some of them have been up to 250 000 membership rewards points but as i look at the public offer on the website in incognito mode i see the bonus is 120 000 membership rewards points for fifteen thousand dollars spent in three months so right off the bat these numbers should jump off the Screen for you fifteen thousand dollars spend is quite a bit more than the personal cards six thousand minimum spend this card is for folks and businesses that can run some purchases through it the earnings are also a little different and most folks would agree the business card could get a little tricky the card earns 5x on flights and hotels booked through amex travel so make sure you understand that booking flights.

Directly with the airlines will only earn you one times with the business version booking through amx travel for flights in my opinion is pretty much the same price as the airlines and the only reason i would book a hotel through amex is with fine hotels and resorts or the hotel collection programs which are identical to the personal platinum the business platinum will also earn 1.5 x on the following spend categories construction Suppliers electronic retailers and software providers as well as purchases over five thousand dollars so the spending categories are a little different but i think that is personal preference i would give the nod to the personal platinum though both versions of the platinum card have the same 695 annual fee putting them into premium to crazy territory so now it's time to talk about the credits i'm going to assume you are already familiar with the Credits and benefits on the personal card lots of folks spend time complaining about them i'm not going to repeat what they call it because it's been ran through the ground already but the credits frustrate people and i understand so here's a list of the credits on the business side that help offset that annual fee 200 airline fee credit this is the same as the personal and most of us know how to use it to maximize its value 189 clear credit Again same on a side note i really like using clear i don't know if it's worth the whole 189 dollars but i do enjoy using it especially when traveling with my son four hundred dollar credit with dell now this probably depends on if you buy equipment from dell but let's face it they sell a lot of different things this credit is broken up in true amex fashion with 200 the first part of the year and 200 the Second part of the year i just bought a microphone for the channel and it came to 188 so yeah thank you amex next up are some credits that i will admit i do not use and i do not get any value from the 360 dollar indeed credit this credit might be useful if you run a business with several employees and you need help hiring i don't both of my businesses are just me Forever alone another credit that is only for certain folks is the 150 dollar credit with adobe solutions now i've heard different things about this credit and what it actually will cover so i'll save my judgment for when i actually find out as for now i don't use it the final credit we'll talk about is the most amex credit ever the 120 cell phone bill credit this is broken up into 10 a month to entice you to use a card to pay your cell phone bill to further entice You to use this card for your cell phone bill is the 800 cell phone protection it includes that's good protection but i just pay ten dollars a month on my wife's phone with this card and then i use a five percent cash back card for the rest both cards have the awesome hotels program the unmatched lounge access and the travel and purchase protections but there is a super power with the business platinum that we haven't mentioned yet The 35 airline bonus use membership rewards pay for points for all or part of an eligible flight booked with american express travel and get 35 percent of those points back up to 1 million points back per year this will include all business and first class flights as well as all flights including economy booked with your preferred airline this is how i've been using the business platinum and i've gotten tons of points Back on the flights i've booked remember those flights paid with mr points also count as paid flights for earning airline miles and status so let me ask a question is the business version better than the personal well technically speaking the personal has more credits that can help offset the annual fee and i will add them up as i use them i won't include the clear credits because i'm not sure if i'd actually pay for that first the business Platinum dell 400 credit and i will value that at 400 and i'm being generous airline fee 200 and the wireless credit is easy to value at the full 120 after doing the math i have 720 in credits that i actually value plus the airline bonus that i think is super valuable but i'm not sure what kind of monetary value to put on that well let's Look at the personal platinum credits the hotel credit 200 hours that's easy money i love the fine hotels and resorts program and this is just a discount once a year digital entertainment 240 dollars yearly i value that at full value because i use siriusxm and the disney bundle uber cash 200. i hate it but i use it airline fee again 200 i can't put a value on the walmart plus membership or the saks fifth credits Even though i use them both and i like having them i don't think i would normally spend money on either of them so with what i value that's eight hundred and forty dollars and easy credits and i could even be missing one the personal card in my opinion has better and easier spending multipliers but that airline bonus makes this one really too close to call but here's one more thing authorized users or employee cards most Folks who will add one or more of these will do so so that that person gets their own global lounge access which will be very important next year so what's the significance of this well the personal platinum card cost 175 dollars for up to three authorized users while the business version is 300 for each employee card is this the tipping point well maybe if You're not a solo traveler then you're going to want to share that lounge access with someone are you well i will admit that before doing this video i thought the clear winner would be the business platinum card i think because i put so much more spend on it than the personal platinum but i found out why those numbers are so skewed when i purchase flights and pay with mr points it's actually tracked as the cash Price spin this gives the illusion that i'm using the business platinum for more spend i don't think there is a clear winner here but if i'm going to be real honest i think i will be keeping both of these cards two cards with that hefty of an annual fee doesn't seem logical but for me they are both net positive at the end of the year and they will both help me reach my travel goals so i'd like to hear in the comments Below which one you would like to get in the future which one you have right now or if you think i'm crazy for having and keeping both guys if you have time check me out on socials and check out my links in the description i have referral links for both of these cards and for all amex cards as always gang if you've stayed all the way to the end i appreciate you and i thank you the
